Review your work in light of how trusts and foundations might view it. Prepare a case for support (or case statement) that outlines your work or project and the costs involved. Research and recruit 'high-level people' who have contacts with trustees of relevant trusts. Meet with these people to ascertain who they know and who they are willing to approach on your behalf. Organise personal letters to their contacts before you submit formal applications. Prepare a trusts timetable outlining the trusts to apply to throughout the year. Train staff in how to write successful trust submissions. Paddy has a great deal of experience with fundraising from trusts. It is important to treat trustees and officers of trusts and foundations as individuals in their own right. We will try and pass on your enthusiasm for the cause or project onto these people before the formal process of an application. This can increase the chances of success some four- or five-fold. We believe in a similar process for livery companies.
East
Anglia’s Children’s Hospices “We
asked Paddy to raise £97,000 for the renovation of a building we
desperately needed. He met with some of our network of contacts, studied
our proposals, rewrote them in light of trust applications he wanted to
undertake and within 12 days of consultancy, over a three to four month
period, had raised £112,000. He was thoroughly professional.” Westway Sports Centre, London “Paddy came on board to look at all our fundraising. He immediately dealt with our trustees and unearthed their contacts, then put together and wrote up 3-4 of our more important projects and then made approaches to trusts and foundations. He was very successful and was a pleasure to work with – the cricket project would not have happened if it wasn’t for his persistence and expertise. Paddy has a knack of getting on with just about everybody and this helps with his casual but very professional style.” Somali Women’s Group, Manchester “Paddy successfully helped us with a trusts campaign and with some of our key applications to local government. He was thorough and very professional – but, most of all, he very quickly developed an affinity to our cause.”
St
Paul’s Anglican Fellowship "Thank you for such an instructive and productive day. We all enjoyed meeting you and we all thought the day was a worthwhile investment. We came away with increased confidence and a clearer strategy for the appeal. You will be pleased to hear that two £20,000 donations were secured yesterday and another one this morning. Thank you for your help and we would be pleased to talk to anyone else who may be considering your consultation services." |
